This presentation promises a practical update on market conditions: things we know, things we know we don’t know, and things we don’t know we don’t know, as someone once said. With a brief tour of what businesses and risk managers are doing and not doing across the country, James will explore the longer term outlook – what is the ‘new normal’?
Speaker: James MacKinnon, Director-Risk Solutions Group, Scotiabank
James MacKinnon director in the Risk Solutions Group at Scotiabank, with responsibility for working with clients across Canada on interest rate risk, long-term currency risk, and unwanted exposures to the stock market.
With an MBA from York University and a CFA designation, James has more than 35 years of experience through a wide range of market and economic environments, on both the ‘buy side’ and the ‘sell side’.
Originally hailing from the green hills of Vermont, James lives in Toronto’s west end, and spends his spare time running, sailing with his wife in various parts of the world, and on canoe trips in Northern Ontario. He also does volunteer work with the John Howard Society, and with his faith community.
