This presentation examines cheque and online payment fraud trends in the Canadian industry. It will focus on the steps you can take to reduce your risk by preventing and detecting fraudulent attempts on your accounts.

James McAuley – Partner, KPMG LLP
Senior Vice President, KPMG Forensic

James joined KPMG in 1982 and has worked from KPMG’s Hamilton, Canada, London, England and Toronto Offices.

James has more than 25 years of experience assisting companies and their legal counsel with complex and sensitive matters related to forensic accounting, investigations and civil litigation.  He has been involved with all stages of proceedings including initial assessments, approach, design, research, analysis, reporting and appearing in civil and criminal court to presenting his opinion and findings as an expert witness.  His engagements include assignments in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Europ and Asia.
James has been retained to advise management, independent board committees and audit committees in respect of allegations of fraud and other questionable business activity.  These mandates have included concerns surrounding financial reporting and potential financial misstatements.

Jas Anand – Senior Director, CIBC Fraud Strategy

Jas is responsible for providing leadership and guidance in the development of an overarching fraud strategy and strategic investment roadmap to control and reduce Retail and Business Banking fraud for CIBC.
Prior to joining CIBC, Jas has worked as a fraud and risk management consultant. He has experience managing and developing enterprise risk management solutions including Anti Money Laundering, credit risk management, payment card fraud, retail bank fraud,
e commerce and e banking, internal fraud and first party fraud reduction.
